This is the desktop. We've got a panel with a bunch of widgets, most important, the k-menu and task manager widgets. We've also got a folder view widget set to show the desktop folder's contents. You'll notice that everything is a widget, and this is highly configurable.

It has been a much more pleasant experience than 8.04 by lightyears. The Add/Remove Program manager is fast and good looking, all the utilities have been rewritten for KDE4, and it boots rather quickly (between 40 and 20 seconds).

Simon picked me up around noon and we went back to his house. It was so good to blast Infected Mushroom in a car and be comfortable again. I'm still slightly uncomfortable with all of my friends here. It's probably because I don't have too many guy friends here and everyone is obsessed with whiny emo bands.
